Okay fine, the
page says cougar baby, so I guess your were
expecting photos of baby, here you
go.
Now lets get on with
talking about Baby the cougar, this is her page, I know she didn't
mind sharing it with the baby photos for a few
minutes
Now About
Baby
Baby the last of the 8
cougars, left alone on a mountain top with no hope of finding a
home for her she was the last of the 8 cougars I spent 6 months of
my life trying to find homes for. After thinking it was over
and they all had homes the people who were to take her backed out
leaving Baby without a place to go. So once again I was off and
out in cyberspace looking from list to list to find someone to
love this little girl.
.
It wasn't long after
the information about Baby went out to the lists I received an
email from a person who I knew a little bit about. This person was
a responsible caring person, who already had experience and the
necessary permits to take this little girl. But there was one
problem no pen was built and I was asked of I could keep her until
all things were ready for her to go to her new home. I said I
would and now we have 3 of the 8 homeless cougars here, and we
love everyone of them.
Baby has become the
resident clown here, doing her ritual kill the toys every day at
feeding time, she see's you heading for the shed in the morning or
evening and she is off to kill the toys in the cage. She continues
her antics until the food is in sight then it's hide and wait for
it to come in sight, then attack the feeding station waiting for
the food to drop down

hello Happy & recovering after
surgery
Baby and her near death
experience.
Some time
after Baby arrived the decision was made after weighing all the
pros and cons to have her spayed. What should have been a simple
procedure almost killed her. Baby was loaded up and off to the vet
to be spayed. The surgery went off without any problems. She
recovered and seemed to be doing well, but then it started, she
wanted food so I offered her a small amount, she tried to eat it
but couldn't. She kept having problems eating, I tried all kinds
of different things to get her to eat. She desperately wanted to
eat but turned away after taking a bite. This kept getting
worse, days had gone by without food. The days turned into weeks,
we tried everything we could think of to get her to eat, we
rehydrated her and gave her shots of B vit. nothing was working.
The weight was falling off her and her ribs were now showing. My
greatest fear was she would die of starvation and we did not know
why.
Then one day a suggestion was made from Joe Taft of
EFR who has had these problems before with cats. He suggested
getting Carafate and Pecid in her to see if that would help. I
called the vet and had him call in a prescription for her and
picked up a bottle of pepcid. Now the challenge of squirting
cherry flavored Carafate down the throat of a cougar twice a day
lay in front of me. The first dose was not easy but after she
opened her mouth wide to hiss at me I took that opportunity to
squirt it down her throat, and followed the same procedure that
evening. I offered her a small amount of food that night with a
crushed pepcid tablet on it, this time she ate it and it stayed
down and she was looking for more. This went on for several days
and finally after 18 days without food Baby was eating again. We
built her a sick bay in the cage and let her out in it
to move around more after being in the squeeze cage for
several days. This was the only way to get the medicine down her.
Now that she was eating again and drinking she could have more
room to move around.
Sickbay under construction even 7 yr.
old Bradley helped with the work so Baby could move around
again. After several days stuck in the transport cage where she
had to be to get the medicine down her, she was now eating again
and drinking. So it was time to give her more room to move. She
was happy to stretch and move once again, purring and saying thank
you for making me feel better.

Stepping
Out Finally
Free
Feeling good enough to play
Baby has come a long way since she got so very sick,
she has made up well for all those missed meals and now is fat and
sassy. Her health is back, she loves to play and can't wait for
you to bend down so she can give you a big fat cougar slobber
right on your mouth. We have grown very attached to her and when
it is time for her to go to her new home she will be missed
greatly.
Below is Baby after her surgery, very skinny, but
now after her recovery you can't keep her still. She is always
playing and having fun, she is a sweet happy healthy girl
now.
Hard to believe this is the same cougar, but after
her recovery from the nervous ulcer brought on by her
surgery, Carafate and Pecid brought her back to us and now
she is fat sassy and healthy.

She is very smart, you tell her
to get the ball and she knows what your saying and she's off like
a rocket to attack the balls in her cage. Her favorite is the blue
one I filled with pebbles so it makes all kinds of noise when she
is smacking it around the cage.

the last individual of a race of living things breathes no more,
another heaven and another earth must pass before such a one can
be
again."
