Biggie
started his life on a fur farm, and ended up here. He and Rufus have been together for some time and if you find one you find
the other. If you try to pet Rufus Biggie will come and push him out
of the way.
He is a
beautiful Canadian Lynx with a personality to go with it, on his
last visit to the vets office he was the center of attention. My vet
just swooped him out of the carrier and walked down his hall with
him caring him to the back, and all the way he just kept saying I
want one of these. On our return visit Biggie was in th waiting room
in a carrier under a cover because there were other people with
their pets in the waiting room. They asked what was under the
blanket, so I showed them. They abandoned their own pets to kneel
down on the floor next to Biggie so they could pet him. He was such
a good boy, and he enjoyed all the attention he was getting, and
while we had him there we put him on the scale in the waiting room,
he weighed in close to 55 pounds.
We had to remove
a purse string suture from Biggie, he had prolasped a week prior and
had to have a suture put in for a week. The vet removed the suture
with out sedating Biggie, he just stood there starring at this
little pug dog walking around the back room and could care less the
vet was behind him removing a suture from his rectum. It was over in
a second and Biggie did not have to be sedated, that was a very good
thing. Sedating exotics is a very touchy procedure and you avoid
doing it unless it absolute impossible to do it any other
way.
The boys spend
their time on the upper platform, curled up together. If you go in
the cage to clean and change water and you are bending over for too
long you will end up with a Lynx on your back., or your head. He
doesn't care either one is fine with him.

Biggie grooms his good buddy, Rufus is happy to get
the attention from him.We were asked to take them
and we had 2 weeks to get a cage up and functioning
Biggie & Rufus have only
been with us since June 2003. But they have adapted very well. Their
favorite spot is the top platform under the roof in the heat of the
day. They spend most of the day in the 8x8 alcove on the upper
platform under the misters. They came to us as a pair, the owner did
not want to separate them.
So once again we said yes and started
to build another cage to
accommodate the boys. Like the others this is home and they will
always have a safe place to live their life in peace. Some have
offered to take Biggie and give him a home this will never happen he
is here to stay with his best friend Rufus and they will always
remain with each other in the same cage.
Biggie loves to use you as a perch,
you quickly learn when you are bent over cleaning or changing
water you will soon have a large furry neck warp. He will jump up
on your back and try to climb on your head, batting you in the
head with those big feet of his, then jump down run off and come
back for more. Biggie also loves people and loves to
play.
Since the boys had so much room we
decide to move Phoebe
in with them in hopes
she would be happier having others around her. This never happened
she refuses to get along with them, so we are building
another cage to move her off by herself, where she can watch the
others but not be in the same cage with them.
