If anyone is a fan of "Survivor", you may remember the first
show and the first winning team, TAGI, was their name. This is how I
named my boy Tagi, for he truly survived things that never
should have been done to him. My email is in his name
with the initials of our state, in honor of a true survivor.

Tagi came to us severely scarred for life by his
former owner. He must have been an ego trip for an ignorant owner,
and rather than educate herself on the proper care of a bobcat, she
had him butchered as a very young cat. How any intelligent DVM.
could perform the things he did on him is beyond me. All his claws
have been removed front and back, he was nutered, and the worst
thing was all his canines were ripped from his mouth. To make
matters worse he was kept locked in a 4x6 room and feed once every 2
to 3 days. On top of all that he almost died of flea anemia.
His owner could not understand why he
would growl at her and act aggressive when she went to feed him.
Needless to say she got rid of him, after scaring him for life. I
hope someday his former owner can experience all the same things she
did for him.
But he
is a true survivor, and has done a complete turn around. With proper
care and nutrition he has gained weight, and lives in his cage
attached to our home. He goes in and out of the house at will, he's
a well mannered boy, and has never made an aggressive move towards
anyone, and always has a smile for you. He is happy and healthy now,
and fat and sassy during the winter months. Room to run and play,
every day the two shake the walls on the house and rattle the
windows with their early morning play. These are the sounds you wake
up to and it goes on for several hours, then they go off and relax
for a while. These are the sounds of happy healthy cats.

Tagi lived with us by
himself for a long time. He found it hard to trust people after what
had been done to him. He would not let me touch him, but he would
let me play with him, he loved to play. Then one day I received a
phone call asking me if I would take in another bobcat, I said yes.
Bobbie came into our home, she was
a four month old wild born native bobcat. This could be the perfect
thing for Tagi, a friend, one of his own kind to spend his time
with. It took weeks of slow introduction, letting them into each
others territory while the others was kept in a separate room,
giving them a chance to check out the new smells.
Tagi now leads a happy
life, with proper food and vitamins he has grown and developed into
a fine boy. His rear legs are some what deformed due to improper
diet when he was young. He now eats bones for much needed calcium,
and with only his back teeth he can still crush these bones. The
rest of his food is cut up into bite size pieces for him, without
his canines he can not tear his food. Good nutrition has done
wonders for him, and a friend to share his life with, he is a true
survivor. Through your donations we can continue to help cats like
these, and give them a safe home to live out their lives safe and
secure.

Tagi is a true
"Survivor" and now runs and plays every day with Bobbie, he has
a friend and security. Tagi has seniority here, he has
been with us the longest of all of the residents
here.
