Lost, frightened and alone             OUR GUIDE TO OUR FUTURE

Sherabie came into our lives when she was around 8 or 10 weeks old. The first part of her life was spent in the wild being raised by her mother. We found her in our driveway abandoned by her mother, she was frightened and alone. She could put up a pretty good fight when you picked her up, but she was afraid and alone.

We brought her into our home, she was alone and ill, we nursed her back to health and in no time flat she was a part of the family, being raised by our domestic Persian. My domestics took to caring for her, cleaning and grooming her, giving back to her some feelings of security, and a mother figure. In a very short time Sherabie had settled in and become part of the family, no longer afraid or alone she was now safe and secure.

As she grew she started having seizures, they became more and more frequent, she would have to be held down during the seizures to keep her from getting hurt. We took her to an exotic vet, he ran all kinds of test and did blood work on her. He gave us all kinds of medication to give her, well don't ever try to get a pill down a half grown bobcats throat, it's not going to happen. I did some research and found herbs that would do the same thing as the drugs. I started feeding her the herbs over her food, she ate it with no problem. I continue this for a some time, the seizures were happening less and less now. In time they stopped all together, the herbs had worked and she now had her health back.

She continued to grow, and bond with the family. For a wild born bobcat she dearly loved people and other animals, she was a special girl. She could steal your heart when you meet her, she had no fear of strangers that came into our home.
As she grew the need to nurture others became strong in her. She would lie with the kittens at the side of the mother cat, this was her mother too while she grew up. They would all curl up and sleep peacefully together.
It wasn't long before she decided she would help raise the kittens. She would remove the kittens from their mother and take them into the closet in my bedroom, where she had knocked down clothes to make a soft bed for the babies. There she proceeded to clean and care for them. I would have to hunt them down and return them to mom at feeding time.

Sherabie  mission accomplished she gets to play Mom now.

I feel Sherabie was sent to us to pave the way for what was ahead of us. After a few years the call of wild and the need to have babies of her own, grew strong in her. At night she would call out to the wild ones in the woods, it was sad to hear the cries, we loved her very much and she was alone with no other bobcat to keep her company.

Then one day it happened the gate to the cage was only open for a second, she leaped from her platform and catapulted off my shoulders and ran to the woods. We searched for days without success, she was gone. Maybe her mission was done and it was time to return to the wild.

I know she did not forget us, and one day she proved it. On a drive home from town, not far from our house, a bobcat came running across a big open field in broad daylight.  I saw it out of the corner of my eye, then suddenly she ran right in front of my car, I slammed on my brakes and jumped out of the car. I called out her name, it was her, she stopped at the edge of the road and turned around and sat down, I stood there for a while talking to her, she never moved. She looked at me as if to say,"It's okay, I'm allright now. You don't have to worry, I'm happy and alive, and thank you for loving me."

She has shown herself to us more than once, it's as if she is letting us know she is out there and surviving. At times I expect to see her across the field with babies at her side, this is what she wanted, and she would be a good mother to her babies.
We all miss her very much, she had a special place in our hearts and always will. She is the reason we are here today.

WE MISS YOU SHERABIE, YOU CHANGED OUR LIFE AND GAVE IT NEW MEANING.
