Missy comes from the
wilds of Africa. She needed a place to stay for a few weeks so we
said yes. Missy ended up staying with us for several months until a
home was found or her. She was a delight to have around. The caracal
is one of the fastest cats, with hunting skills unmatched. They can
take down more than one bird in flight at one time. Missy had a ball
with her stuffed duck and other toys, and more than once proved her
lighting fast reflexes.
Missy occupied
the large room upstairs at night, and the whole house during the
day. After a while she was moved out to the new cage that was under
construction, she started to do what caracals like to do, using soft
things like pillows and blankets for her litter
box. Missy was soon
moved outside to the new cage, even though it was not completely
finished, we had to make room for yet another, Phoebe was arriving soon and she
would occupy the room upstairs until Missy left for her new home,
then Phoebe would be moved into the
cage.

Missy finally found a
new home after sharing ours for many months. My husband did not
want to part with her, he became very attached to her and was sad to
see her go. Missy has been bought by a breeder and sadly she is now
expected to continue her life having babies to be sold off so this
breeder can make a living off her and others like her.
She gets attention but
not like she used to and now when she has babies they are taken from
her and bottle feed so they can be sold off as pets. Poor Missy will
never know what it is like to raise a baby and bond with them. She
has become nothing more than a dollar sign for a breeder.
Missy was moved to the
new cage to make room for Phoebe who just arrived. After Missy went
to her new home, the cage was then occupied again, Phoebe then
had this cage for her home, but has since been moved to a bigger
cage and this is now the addition for the bobcats to run the
overhead walkway to. It is part of their cage now and they have both
side to run and play in now.
Missy was a
people cat and dearly loved people, even if she just met you she had
a big caracal kiss for you. Now Missy is nothing more than
another money maker for this breeder dealer. This is such a shame to
have her reduced to nothing more than a baby factory and now
starving for human contact. Expected to produce one litter after
another with no time in-between to regain her own health back.
We would have been
happy to keep her and care for her but we were in no position to
pay the couple of thousand of dollars that was being asked for
her at that time. Now after knowing what she is expected to do I am
sorry we could not afford to keep her with us.
